* KONGSBERG VAPENFABRIK 8x57JS MODERAT 'M48 KRAG JORGENSEN ELGRIFLE (MOOSE RIFLE)', serial no. 120716, dated 1917, 22 1/2in. nitro reproved barrel (in 2021), with tall block-mounted blade fore-sight, adjustable tangent rear sight graduated from 1-2,200, receiver ring marked '1917' and with the Kongsberg arsenal marking, internal rotary box magazine with downward pivoting loading gate and inspection trap, manual flag safety with thumb cut-out marked 'S' and 'AA', manual cocking knob, three-quarter length semi-pistolgrip stock, the fore-part with aperture for short cleaning rob (missing), single barrel-band, 14in. pull including steel buttplate with central hinged trapdoor, weight 8lb. 4oz.
Other Notes: This rifle was rebuilt to a hunting rifle with a
M/34/48 new barrel from a German Mauser 98. This was
8x57JS Moderat. produced after the war. People needed hunting guns, and this was what they called a Moose rifle.
This rifle was rebuilt outside the factory.
These rifles were also produced inside the
factory, but with a different sight. Mechanism
made 1917.
The cartridges for these guns were reduced to
Krag pressure, called 8x57JS Moderat
